In 2021, every citizen carried the yellow container 18.8 kilos of plastic containers, cans and bricks, an even larger quantity in the blue container (19.3 kilos). In total, we recycle 5.3% more.
It all starts at home. According to a study, Spaniards have an average of three different cubes in our houses to separate waste, with four out of five households recycling in the yellow bin.
According to the Catchment Institute, 80% of households recycle packaging. In the video, we try to resolve some of the most frequent doubts that arise when recycling, such as if it is necessary wash containers before throwing them away to the bucket or where we throw a white cork tray.
Óscar Martín, CEO of Ecoembes, explains that they have been recycled more than one and a half million tons to which it has been possible to “give a second life”. In Spain, there are more than 383,000 yellow containers, more than 240,000 blue ones and more than half a million litter bins.
