At 56, Osman Benadda presents the tired features, but the calm gaze, of a man who has just lived an experience as painful as it is enriching. From the beginnings of confinement, the health crisis, and the saturation of intensive care services, the former caregiver converted into leisure, where he runs the escape game room “The Key to the Fields” at Annecy (Haute-Savoie), returns without hesitation to his first profession.
With a click of the mouse, he registers on the digital platform of Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris (APHP). The next day he begins his night shift at theSaint-Antoine hospital. The first of a very long series, since Osman Benadda will work eight months in this Parisian intensive care unit.
“I was prepared for healing but not for death”
Of this commitment, Osman Benadda says today: it was a great experience “. “There was enormous solidarity between us. I have had painful times because as caregivers we are ready to heal, but not prepared for death. Patients would hear other patients die, and say ‘when is our turn?’ If I could redo it, I would. It is my best professional human experience. “
