This became clear during a public presentation of project solutions for the preparation of the technical project.
The mayor and experts from the Municipality of Burgas hosted the general director of NKŽI, Eng. Maria Genova, and the manager of the Plovdiv – Burgas phase 2 project, Eng. Ivan Bakalski, as well as representatives of the designers, who told more about the work done so far.
The project includes preparation for the construction of the connection with a technical design, detailed development plan, land acquisition, archaeological survey, ESIA and ARP.
The line will be within the city and in the lane of the already existing one next to Solnitse.
It is planned to have a diversion to the airport, as well as the construction of two new stops, railway stations and pedestrian overpasses.
The estimated cost of the construction is BGN 103 million without VAT, and there will be 85% co-financing under the Transport Connectivity Program 2021-2027 priority 4 “Intermodality in an urban environment”.
The speed that can be developed from “Vladimir Pavlov” station to the Morska gradina stop is 60 km/h, and from the Morska gradina stop to Burgas Airport 80 km/h.
The length of the new line will be 11 km. There will be 7 stops in total – “Vladimir Pavlov” station, “Lazur” stop, “Morska gradina” stop, “Solnitsi” station, “Kosheto” stop, RP “Atanasovsko Ezero” and Burgas Airport station.
Construction work could begin by 2025, with completion scheduled for 2029.
Reconstruction of road crossings on two levels on “Dimitar Dimov” street, correction of the levels of the railway road and coordination between the current project and the Municipality of Burgas for “Odrin” street are planned. The entire line will also have noise-absorbing panels.
„From the Municipality of Burgas, we have already started to implement individual details along this route. We are starting the excavation work on the underground passage of Edirne Street and the railway connection. This transport facility will ease the traffic and will be a completely ecological transport. I hope that this project will develop and reach its original intention – railway.
