We have learned that the number of players in Overwatch 2 is already higher than the original. 25 million of nothing.
Overwatch 2 arrived a couple of weeks ago and Activision Blizzard must be very happy. Protected under the model’s umbrella free to play, the game has had quite a few downloads and been played quite a bit. Already in the beta the numbers were promising and now it has materialized with the full game. It turns out the number of overwatch 2 players already exceeds the maximum of the original; 25 million in the first 10 days compared to the over 15 that the original added in 90.
As they say, you need to be realistic and honest and know that Overwatch 2 was released in a free format. Yes, the merit is obviously there, but at the level of benefits one number does not report the same as another.
Blizzard celebrated these numbers. Through a declaration – to which we echo thank you VGC-, says Mike Ybarra, president of the company:
Overwatch 2’s launch was a important moment for us. We are thrilled to bring new players from around the world into the vibrant Overwatch universe by welcoming existing ones. This is just the beginning – there are so many possibilities to explore in the world of Overwatch and we can’t wait for you to try them for yourself.
A bumpy start
Despite the good news so far, the game’s launch has been a bit bumpy. when it came out, suffered a DDos attack – a massive Denial of Service attack directed at its servers – which prevented people from playing the video game. Some players have even reported losing hours, skins and objects already obtained during their games. Eventually, everything could be fixed and users could continue with their fights.
