IMWM warns against strong winds and storms. It will be dangerous – Straight up

The weather on Sunday looks dangerous across the country. Forecasters warn of extremely strong winds and storms. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued alerts – first-degree warnings apply almost throughout Poland, while second-degree alerts covered only a few of them. Let us remind you that the mentioned scale is a three-level, ascending one.

IMWM warnings of the second degree

Forecasters issued second-level alerts for the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranian Voivodeship, covering the following counties: Słupsk, Słupsk, Lębork, Wejherowo, Puck;

  • West Pomeranian Voivodeship with the following counties: Sławno, Koszalin, Koszalin, Białogard, Kołobrzeg, Gryfice, Kamień, Goleniów, Police, Świnoujście.

These areas may experience strong to very strong winds, blowing at an average speed of 40 to 55 kilometers per hour. Gusts will reach up to 95 kilometers per hour. Intense storms can be expected locally.

The alerts are valid until 2 a.m. on Monday.

IMWM warnings of the first degree

First degree warnings against strong winds were issued in the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranian, except for northern counties – there they will be valid until 10 p.m. on Sunday;

  • West Pomeranian Voivodeship, excluding northern poviats, where they will be valid until 9 p.m. on Sunday;

  • Lubuskie, where warnings will be valid until 9 p.m. on Sunday;

  • Greater Poland Voivodeship, where alarms will apply from 10 a.m. on Sunday to midnight on Monday;

  • Podkarpackie, where warnings will apply from 12 noon on Sunday to midnight on Monday;

  • Świętokrzyskie; where alarms will be valid from 12 noon on Sunday to midnight on Monday;

  • Łódź, where dangerous weather will occur from 10 a.m. on Sunday to midnight on Monday;

  • Lubelskie, in the southern half of the region, where it will be dangerous from 12 noon on Sunday to midnight on Monday;

  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship – it will be dangerous there from 10 a.m. on Sunday until midnight on Monday;

  • Lower Silesia, where warnings will be valid until 9 p.m. on Sunday;

  • Silesia, where alarms will be valid from 10 a.m. on Sunday to midnight on Monday;

  • Opole – there it will be dangerous from 10 a.m. on Sunday until midnight on Monday;

  • Lesser Poland, where alarms will be valid from 12 noon on Sunday to midnight on Monday;

  • Masovian Voivodeship, excluding several counties in the north-east of the region. Warnings in most poviats of the Masovian Voivodeship will be in force from 12 noon on Sunday to midnight on Monday, only in the north-east from 2 p.m. on Sunday to 7 a.m. on Monday;

  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in the following counties: Działdowo, Nowe Miasto, Iława. There, the alarms will be valid from 10 a.m. on Sunday until midnight on Monday.

Quite strong and strong winds are forecast in the above areas. Winds will blow at an average speed of 30-50 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 85 kilometers per hour. There may be thunderstorms in places.
