IMSS to Administer 12 Million Seasonal Flu Vaccines and 6.7 Million COVID-19 Vaccines by March 31: National Campaign Update

For next March 31, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) will have applied 12 million seasonal flu vaccines and 6.7 million against covid-19reported its general director Zoé Robledo Aburto, who invited the population that has not yet been immunized to come to his medical unit to complete their schedules.

“The vaccine is free and universal, thank you for attending to this collective effort that protects us all,” he said.

In a video message, Robledo Aburto added that for the remainder of the month, in collaboration with the health sector, Social Security will continue with winter vaccination, as part of the national campaign which began in October 2023.

He added that citizens should be aware that temperature changes continue to affect health.

“Respiratory infections that become complicated when they affect girls, boys, the elderly or people with some comorbidity, for which prevention measures must be carried out and one of them is vaccination,” he indicated.

The head of the IMSS reiterated that the priority groups that should receive vaccines against influenza and coronavirus are:

  • Health personnel
  • Girls and boys from six months to four years
  • Adults 60 years or older.
  • Pregnant or lactating women
  • People with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, cardiovascular type, kidney failure.
  • People with HIV.
