IMSS Tlaxcala offers online PrevenIMSS and CHKT checkup

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Tlaxcala promotes care focused on prevention and intensifies the actions of prevention programs PrevenIMSS y CHKT Online, focused on the detection of diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, obesity, breast, cervical, colon, rectum, and prostate cancer, reported Dr. Arquímedes Díaz Parra, coordinator of Public Health of the IMSS in Tlaxcala.

He explained that PrevenIMSS is a strategy of provision of medical servicessystematic and orderly, which includes actions of health promotion, detection and prevention of diseases, which is directed and organized for the different age groups.

“Derived from the Covid-19 pandemic, some beneficiaries stopped attending their annual PrevenIMSS Checkup to identify any condition that may be preventable or detectable in early stages, for timely control.”, underlined the specialist.

Among the comprehensive actions offered by the IMSS their beneficiaries are: review of national health cards, risk assessment, nutritional guidance, sexual and reproductive orientationoral hygiene education, taking blood pressure and glucose levels, screening for breast cancer, screening for cervical cancer, screening for prostate cancer, weight and height measurement, and updating of the basic vaccination schedule according to age, among others.

He explained that each National Health Card It is directed according to the corresponding age group, such as: children under 10 years old, from 10 to 19 years old, women from 20 to 59 years old, men from 20 to 59 years old, and the entire population over 60 years old.

“The preventive care offered by the Institute to its beneficiaries is provided permanently in each of its Family Medicine Units (UMF), as well as through the strategies of IMSS in Companies and IMSS in Schools.”, the coordinator pointed out.

The activities in Companies are carried out in those with and without an agreement with the IMSS, they only have to request the presence of the PreventIMSS Brigades to have their Check PreventIMSSin order to serve their workers in their own workplace.

In public schools of upper middle and higher level, visit dates can be established with the IMSS, so that the PrevenIMSS Brigades and preventive actions can attend, screening and health promotion according to your age.

These preventive activities are reinforced with the PrevenIMSS Revalorizado, which has a technological approach since with the use of digital tools such as CHKT Online, it is possible to access it from a smartphone, computer or tablet, providing the level of risk of having in some way chronic disease or cancer, as well as the recommendation to go to the UMF that corresponds to it.

“With the CHKT Online tool, the preventive services of the Institute are easily and safely approached to the population that does not use the preventive services in the Units, with the aim of knowing if there are risk factors for diabetes, arterial hypertension, cancer of breast, prostate cancer, and colon and rectal cancer, by completing a simple questionnaire on the page http://chkt.imss.gob.mx/publico/ or by downloading the IMSS Digital application”, Diaz Parra pointed out.

He stressed that the general objective is to promote among the population the importance of Check PrevenIMSS and CHKT Online, to promote healthy lifestyles that improve quality of life, provide a state of general well-being, and help in the prevention and timely detection of diseases.

During the activities, the sanitary and prevention measures are applied due to the contingency derived from the Covid-19among them, frequent hand hygiene, use of face masks and healthy distance.
