IMSS Tamaulipas Promotes Organ Donation During National Organ Donation Week

Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. – He Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Tamaulipas participate in the National Organ Donation Weekwhich will take place from September 25 to 29 in its medical and hospital units.

The head of the IMSS in the entity, doctor Federico Héctor Marín Martínezindicated that during this national week actions are being extended to promote this altruistic work, the objective is to raise awareness among residents of the option of giving patients a second chance and a better quality of life.

Marín Martínez highlighted the importance of this national organ and tissue donation week, because they are special dates for patients, donors, hospital donation coordinators, and transplant surgeons.

He highlighted that a person diagnosed with brain death can donate organs such as: heart, liver, pancreas, kidneys, lungs and tissues such as corneas, skin, bone, heart valves, tendons and joints; Patients who die from cardiorespiratory arrest are candidates for tissue donation.

In this sense, and through dissemination and awareness actions, the Institute calls on the general population to exercise the right to donate organs and tissues for the benefit of patients who are on the national waiting list.

The IMSS specialist indicated that it is very important to know the organ donation process, which is carried out transparently and in accordance with the law, without profit and altruistically.

He emphasized that, although this campaign is permanent in the IMSS medical units, on the occasion of the National Day of Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation, which is celebrated on the 26th of the same month, it will be intensified from September 25 to 29; He also indicated that, to be a voluntary organ and tissue donor, you can consult the IMSS page.
