In the last 100 days, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) managed to advance in the attention of family medicine consultations, specialty and surgeries that were pending due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through the strategy “100 days to move to the IMSS”, it was possible to exceed 109% of the ordinary care goals set.
The IMSS exceeded its goals in the detection of diabetes, of which it carried out 2 million 103 thousand 778, this is 144.81% more than expected. The detection of breast cancer by mammography was also exceeded by 215.89%; and a 114.83% the detection of cervico-uterine cancer.

There were also 3 million 285 thousand 182 detections of Hypertension, and one million 43 thousand 99 of Breast Cancer by exploration.
Among the medical specialties that provided the most attention are: Angiology, Cardiology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Pulmonology, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Traumatology and Orthopedics, and Urology.
In a statement, the IMSS highlighted that 763 transplants were performed, including: 6 heart, 18 liver, 253 kidney, 192 corneas and 71 bone marrow.
The surgeries also had a high degree of programming: General, Pediatric, Plastic and Reconstructive, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Surgical Oncology, Urology, and Traumatology and Orthopedics.

The services were carried out under strict security protocols such as the mandatory use of face masks and the application of 70 percent alcohol gel.
To continue with the recovery of ordinary services, the IMSS will hold some monothematic sessions on weekends according to the needs of the beneficiaries.
