IMSS prepares: it expects a rebound in two weeks

The probable increase in COVID-19 infections in Coahuila during the coming days due to the December holidays, forced the IMSS to prepare two temporary care units in Saltillo and Monclova, as well as the purchase of more mechanical ventilation services in hospitals and at home.

VANGUARDIA announced that Coahuila exceeds more than 50 thousand positive cases of COVID-19, so the IMSS delegation foresees a rebound in positive cases during the next two weeks, as a result of meetings of the December celebrations.

Leopoldo Santillán, IMSS delegate in Coahuila, explained that according to the statistics that have been presented throughout the pandemic, it would be in the coming days when there will be a new spike in infections and hospital occupation.

In the coming days the IMSS will put into operation two Temporary Medical Units, one in Saltillo, and another in Monclova, in which 40.7 million pesos are invested.

Each of these temporary units will increase the capacity to care for patients with COVID-19 with 38 countable beds, and in the case of the Saltillo Unit it is located in the Metropolitan Center, next to the Detection and Diagnosis Unit of Breast cancer

In addition, Social Security issued a document for the purchase of the assisted mechanical ventilation service, the minimum amount of which will be 3.1 million pesos, and a maximum of 7.9 million, depending on the requirements.

In the case of the clinics that may request the service for assisted mechanical ventilation (oxygen), there are Clinics 1 and 2 in Saltillo, General Hospital 7 in Monclova, General Hospital 11 in Piedras Negras, Hospitals 16 and 18 in Torreón , as well as Hospital 24 de Nueva Rosita.
