IMSS meets goal with 2.25 million doses applied nationwide

The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) met the vaccination goal of Operative April by applying 2.25 million doses against covid-19 in their Family Medicine Units as well as in hospitals.

An intense mobilization of health personnel was deployed at the national level and, with this action the intensive phase of vaccination concluded in which all the institutions of the health sector participated.

The health authority will continue with immunization against covid-19 at the vaccination sites determined by the federal government.

Social Security deployed its medical personnel in the 35 state Representations, Family Medicine Units, Second Level Hospitals and High Specialty Medical Units (UMAE).

“Having the dose against this disease saves lives and prevents people from being hospitalized, particularly those suffering from chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes or obesity,” according to the IMSS.

Between April 11 and 30, Social Security diversified its actions to carry the vaccine in vehicles, boats or on foot, in order to bring it closer to where the population needed it. It had the support of public servants, business chambers, universities, among others, to achieve these objectives.

The nursing staff, doctors, brigade members vaccinated with the appropriate sanitary measures in rural areas, ejidos, public spaces such as theaters, courts, schools, kiosks, hotels, airports, bus terminals, shopping malls, markets, prisons, nursing homes and even house to house, through the “vacuvochito”, in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco.

Biologicals were also applied in companies that enabled their spaces as immunization centers. In this vaccination period, the IMSS repeatedly called on the population to be protected of covid-19, since in case of contracting the disease it could take it with symptoms of the disease.

Immunization allows moving towards a new normality of social or economic activities, continuing with the application of vaccines in later stages, as well as address other priority issues of the health system: improve services, reduce waiting times for diagnostic studies, consultations or surgeries, have more specialists, equipment and infrastructure.

Vaccination is a fundamental intervention in the care of the disease, it is recommended that the general population continue with prevention measures, such as the correct use of face masks, frequent hand washing and the distance of 1.5 meters between people.
