On March 15 and 16, the IMSS will carry out a blood donation campaign, for which the population was invited to join, in order to help hundreds of patients who require transfusions for surgical interventions.
To donate blood, you must be between 18 and 65 years old, weigh more than 50 kilos, avoid eating fatty foods 24 hours before donating, fast for at least four hours, and during this time only drink juices, fruits, tea, and coffee.
In addition, do not exceed more than eight hours of fasting, have not been sick or have taken medication in the last days, have not had tattoos or piercings in the last 12 months.
In the donation process, 450 milliliters of hematic fluid is extracted, which constitutes 10 percent of the blood volume of an adult, an amount that the same body replaces in approximately 36 hours.
