The Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández, affirmed that after the disappearance of the Institute of Health for Well-being (Insabi), free and universal health can be guaranteed through the IMSS-Bienestar.
“It is about the disappearance of the Institute of Health for Well-being, a reorganization of the functions of the Ministry of Health of the federal Government so that the operational part and medical care is consolidated in the IMSS-Welfare, so that there is finally free and universality of medical care for all Mexicans without any distinction”, said the Secretary of the Interior when leading the morning at the National Palace.
López Hernández mentioned that the reform contemplates the disappearance of Seguro Popular, since there were still budgetary reserves.
He specified that within a period of 90 days, the Ministry of Health must issue the procedure by which the purchase of medicines or equipment for hospitals will be maintained.
“IMSS-Bienestar, as is going to happen in all corners of the country, is going to provide free medical services for all Mexicans,” he said.
