The public discussion on the improvement of justice systems must be from a “high-minded” vision and far from “political agendas,” said the Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Margarita Ríos Farjat.
The judge’s statement was made this Thursday when she led the inauguration of the Regional Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Association of Women Judges “Women judges: Legal challenges of the digital era and their possible solutions through experience” , and it occurred in the context of the implementation of judicial reform in Mexico.

In front of women judges from the Latin American and Caribbean region, he expressed that their meeting should be used to raise their voices, listen and participate responsibly and purposefully in this public discussion on the improvement of justice systems.
“Not with short-term visions or the political situation, but with high-mindedness to discuss, not how to make the judicial powers less politically uncomfortable, but how to make them more useful and functional to achieve that noble goal that should unite us beyond of political agendas and that is to provide the population with a more accessible, transparent, professional and reliable justice system, and that contributes effectively with empathy and sensitivity to pacify and give cause to the social conflicts that are brought to its attention,” he said.

“This meeting will also be a space to exchange information and strategies that allow us to take advantage of the infinite possibilities of technology to build more accessible and effective justice systems. This will allow us to know what other colleagues from our own country or our own region have devised and implemented to facilitate access to justice or improve its delivery using technological tools. We will learn, for example, a very interesting and promising technological assistant for the individualization of sanctions and other tools that are being generated in the courts to bring the population closer to truly prompt and expeditious justice,” he said.
The minister spoke about the artificial intelligence platform “Sor Juana”, which she and her team developed, in which the draft sentences under her presentation can be publicly consulted, their content and scope explained.
“It allows you to socialize and explain the contents of the rulings of the Supreme Court of Mexico, starting with those in which your servant has been a speaker. Since I joined the Supreme Court I have expressed my concern about how little is known about the decisions of the highest court and that this not only has pernicious effects on the legitimacy of the National Judiciary, but also on the ignorance on the part of society. their own rights, developed and interpreted by judges, and also ignorance of what type of society we have, what type of society we are.
“That is to say, judicial rulings are also mirrors that show society who it truly is, what things people are capable of doing to each other. That too, although it is very painful,” he expressed.
