King Gath is somewhat of a legend among Fallout 4 modders. Having improved the settlement feature in the game with his Sim Settlements mods, he’s somewhat of an expert on how these things work, and while he likes what Starfield has done with the outposts, there’s room for improvement.
“Why don’t we have a set of structural foundations for all these production machines?”King Gath adds PCGamer. “If it’s going to satisfy the same itch as a factory simulator, we need tools to organize things visually – let’s stick the machines together on platforms, color code or label things, change the color of the links. I’d also like to see more variety in the machines, so I can see at a glance what’s producing what, instead of everything being the same generic manufacturer.”
“I missed some of the settlement mechanics from Fallout 4. I’d like to have back the requirements to provide beds/food/water for my crew. One of the core concepts we embraced in Sim Settlements 2 was that it’s the people that matter. It is that draws us to Bethesda games – without the characters, there’s no point in what we’re doing.”
As long as you carry money, that’s all people need at your outposts in Starfield. It streamlines the process, allowing you to spend more time adventuring in space, but for those who want to fine-tune every part of their mini-settlement, it’s clear that there’s room for Bethesda to add some features in the long run. Or maybe King Gath intervenes again.
