Children and young people’s knowledge of finances is poor and they would like to be better informed. Knowing what a cell phone contract really costs, what compound interest is or how stocks work – these are topics that have rarely been discussed in schools.

The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education are now jointly planning a national education strategy in financial literacy. But how things are to be conveyed is still unclear. And also who could be involved: schools, consumer organizations or even banks?
