The deputy director general of the CHR Metz-Thionville, David Larivière, repeats an inescapable observation: “We do not have enough doctors on the territory, whether they are emergency doctors or liberals”. A balance sheet all the more catastrophic as it is at the dawn of the summer holidays. “When there aren’t enough city doctors, people go to the emergency room. An inevitable reflex that has been perpetuated over the years. “The liberal regulating doctors participate in the management of calls in close collaboration with the emergency doctors of the Samu”, appreciates the director, who takes care to relieve them.
A medical home
On the territory, there is already a medical house in the premises of the Legouest hospital. And the Association of permanence of care (Apsam) ensures the reception of patients at night, from 8 p.m. to midnight, and on weekends. “The doctors who provide the guards are not unemployed”, certifies Serge Maurière, secretary general of the Departmental Association of permanence of care. A similar structure also exists not far from the Bel-Air hospital, in Thionville. “We are going to open a medical care center on the premises of the CHR, says David Larivière. We have the premises, an office attached to the Mercy emergency department. “Everything is ready, all that is missing is a general practitioner to provide consultations there in the evenings and on weekends. “We are looking, repeats Serge Maurière. We also want to double the number of doctors at the medical center in Legouest. » Appeal to goodwill.
