With the participation of more than 70 people, the infrastructure improvements of a multi-sports field and two rooms attached to the Community Family Health Center (Cecosf) of the Dintrans Population of Rancagua were inaugurated. These projects, supported by Codelco El Teniente Division, will benefit more than 3,000 people from six towns and two camps in the sector.
Cristián Sanhueza, director of Community Development, explained that “our main mission is to develop the territory with a focus on social value. With these initiatives, we are committed to strengthening community spaces through sports and health, as we recognize their importance in progress.”
Recovery of sports space
The initiative arose from a call from the community, requesting support for the recovery of the local multi-court.
“The Lieutenant came after seeing a video in which children appear playing with stone arches. So, upon seeing this, they called us and this progress was achieved that will directly benefit the children and young people,” said Raúl Veloso, president of the Dintrans neighborhood council.
The repairs consisted of renewing the perimeter closure, replacing arches and markings on the concrete floor. In addition, during the ceremony, the workers from Sala CIO (Integrated Operations Center) of El Teniente handed out sports equipment to the boys and girls of the population.
“We come to support this activity for the benefit of the community. Our motivation is to see that children and young people take advantage of these spaces,” explained Cristóbal Ortiz, operator of the Mines Management in the CIO Room.
Sergio Guzmán, head of the Tailings Operation unit of the Dams, Tailings and Water Resources management, commented that “for us, it is very important to maintain proximity to this sector. That is why it is relevant to generate social value in this relationship.”
The court was renamed Multicancha César Pizarro, “Pachuco”, in honor of a deceased collaborator and neighbor of the sector. During the ceremony, a commemorative plaque was presented in his memory, recognizing his invaluable contribution to the community.
Contribution to comprehensive health
In addition, during the celebration, the ribbon cutting of two new care modules for CECOSF (Community Family Health Center) No. 2 was held. This project consisted of the delivery of office modules and exterior arrangements.
Marcela Labarca, coordinator of the facility, explained that “these initiatives improve the quality of life of all the people who live here. The population increased. This helps us increase the professional quantity and benefits provided.”
For her part, Jesenia Latorre, secretary of the Villa La Ribera neighborhood association, valued that “this helps many, because there are six towns here, counting camps. It is essential for people, because there are many older adults and minors here.”
Aníbal Zamorano, a resident of the Dintrans town, stated that “there are always needs in the towns and this support is very good. It is an excellent initiative because health and sports promote healthy lives for our girls and boys.”
