As a result of checking the areas designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT as areas with insufficient 5G mobile communication and long-term evolution (LTE) services in the ‘2022 Communication Service Quality Evaluation’, it was revealed that only LG Uplus has not yet completed follow-up measures. . The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 6th that as a result of the inspection of 79 areas with insufficient communication service quality evaluation in 2022, 74 areas have improved.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced the 2022 communication service quality evaluation in December last year. From May to November 2022, the quality of communication services in 85 cities and major eup, myeon and dong areas across the country was investigated.
In this evaluation, the Ministry of Science and ICT judged that the quality was insufficient in a total of 79 places, ▲SK Telecom 8 places ▲KT 27 places ▲LG U+ 59 places. The communication method is ▲5G 20 places ▲LTE 59 places.
In this inspection, SK Telecom KT completed on-site measures. In LG U+, the quality of 5 places was still not good. The subway and high-speed rail LTE maintenance has not been completed.
Kim Gyeong-man, Director General of Telecommunications Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT said, “It seems that efforts have been made to improve the quality of 5G service, such as improving all unsatisfactory areas, but it is very unfortunate that LTE service still has some unimproved areas.” We will continue to induce quality improvement by checking again in the communication service quality evaluation.”
Meanwhile, LG Uplus explained, “Most of the unsatisfactory areas have been improved through equipment expansion and replacement,” and “We plan to improve some unimproved sections as quickly as possible through additional equipment installation and optimization.”
