The Torremolinos City Council is carrying out during this month of August actions to improve and fine-tune the schools of the municipality with a view to the start of the new school year.
The mayoress of Torremolinos, Margarita del Cid, together with the Councilor for Education, Francisco García, the councilor responsible for SAMSET, Avelina González, and the deputy mayor, Ramón Alcaide, verified the evolution of these works at CEIP Virginia Gaitán, in El Pinillo.
Del Cid explained that “it is acting in the month of August because in the month of July there have been many AMPAS that have organized summer camps”. As detailed, in the CEIP Virginia Gaitán, one of the largest works that will be carried out during the summer by the City Council is carried out, in coordination with several departments. “We had a problem with a tree that was in the wrong location and had destroyed a sports court and made it unusable. Fortunately, this summer we provide a solution, the tree is going to be transplanted and we are also going to create new shady areas so that the students do not lose the shade that this specimen provided”, explained the mayoress.
«This is just one of the actions that we are going to carry out, but in the rest of the schools we have paint jobs or create new accesses, in short, many actions that were necessary and that in this month of August we are going to undertake in accordance with the direction of the centers and the requests that the AMPAS make us and above all, so that our children have schools in the best possible state, “he continued.
Specifically, at CEIP Virginia Gaitán, in addition to replacing the tree mass that harmed the pavement with another, a new entrance to the school and new shaded areas are being adapted and work is going to be carried out that will allow the number of classrooms to be increased, the same as in CEIP San Miguel.
On the other hand, in other schools, work is carried out such as painting common areas in CEIP Benyamina, CEIP San Miguel and CEIP La Paz. In the latter, railings have also been placed on the stairs that go up to the second floor of Children’s and the opening direction of the door that accesses them has been changed.
At the CEIP Palma de Mallorca, work is being done on the construction of an exterior side door to facilitate access for students who arrive at the center by school transport and the roof covering for Infants has been revised
At the Mar Argentea school, work is being done on replacing tiles and fixing steps, at Atenea they are also replacing tiles and cleaning the pipes, and at Albaida the overhang of the porch roof is being fixed.
At the same time, in the coming months, other actions will continue, such as the replacement of a pipe for the use of bathrooms at CEIP La Paz, the replacement of the cistern at CEIP Palma de Mallorca or the revision of the electrical circuit at CEIP San Miguel. .
