Last winter, the canton of Geneva was rocked by a scandal concerning the treatment of autistic children at the Foyer de Mancy. The youngsters had gone without eating for up to two days, a child thrown to the ground and pinned to the ground by the knee of an educator, another dragged by his feet to go to the bathroom. Many investigations have since been conducted to try to identify why the guardianship of the house, namely the Department of Education (DIP) of the State of Geneva, has not reacted sooner. This Tuesday 20 December it was the turn of the Court of Auditors. He noted “that a risk management system exists within the DIP, but that its implementation should be improved” such as that of the treatment of reports, with seven recommendations that the DIP did not, however, accept all. He asked two non-cantonal experts to analyze the functioning of the Medical-Pedagogical Office, whose conclusions delivered at the beginning of 2023 will complete the action plan.
