Impressive Tim van Dijke loses top ranking in Paris-Roubaix

Just before the match it was announced that leader Dylan van Baarle of Visma | Lease a Bike, the team of the Van Dijke brothers, could not start. This meant that the Van Dijke brothers were allowed to drive for their own chance. In the famous Wallers-Arenberg Forest, both brothers competed with the best, until Tim suffered a puncture. A group with top favorites Mathieu van der Poel, Mads Pedersen, Jasper Philipsen and Mick van Dijke rode away, but was quickly recaptured.

Mick crashed while entering a cobblestone section 70 kilometers from the finish. The Zeeland rider quickly climbed back on his bike but had to let go of the race. After Van der Poel took the lead solo, Tim and Mick came together in a chasing group. With about 20 kilometers to go, Mick suffered a puncture, making a top ranking no longer possible.

That seemed to happen for Tim. He broke away from a group of pursuers on the Roubaix velodrome and finished eighth. During that action, Van Dijke went out of bounds, which cost him his top 10 ranking. The organization put him back to the last place of the group with which he rode to the finish.
