On behalf of the British royal family, Princess Anne, sister of King Charles, is going to Greece to greet the Greek king. The father of Anne and Charles – Prince Philip, who was born in Greece – was Constantine’s cousin. So there is no question of Charles, but also not of Prince William who, according to British royalty reporters, will stay at home. Remarkable, because William was the godson of the deceased king.
Our country will be represented in Greece by the King and Queen, who will be present as well as the main European royalty. For the Netherlands, King Willem-Alexander, his wife Maxima and Princess Beatrix, Denmark and Sweden will be represented by Queen Magrethe, Crown Prince Frederik, Princess Benedicht, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia. Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg will also be attending, as will Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. King Juan-Carlos of Spain will also be there with his wife Sofia.
King Constantine II was the last king of Greece between 1964 and 1973. He died on January 10 at the age of 82 after a long illness.
