Important Information: Changes to HPV Vaccination in 2024 – Find Your Nearest Injection Location

Did you have your first injection at least five months ago? Then quickly get the second shot near you this year. Because in 2024, the HPV vaccination will be available in far fewer places and less often. There is a good chance that you will have to travel further for your HPV injection.

From June 1, 2024, HPV vaccination will no longer be free for young adult men and women. For optimal protection, two injections are required, with at least five months in between. Will you get the first injection after 2023? Then – because of the five-month interval – you can only receive the second injection after June 1, 2024 and you have to pay for it yourself. This will cost you more than €200 per injection.

Only young adults can get an HPV vaccination during the opening hours below. Making an appointment is not necessary. Do not get your second injection until at least five months after the first, there is no point in earlier. And don’t forget your ID, because without an ID you can’t get a shot. Opening hours may change. Therefore, always check ggdhm.nl/hpv-jongfotografieen for the most up-to-date information before departure. HPV is highly contagious; Eight out of ten people become unknowingly infected with HPV during their lives through intimate contact. The virus can cause cancer of the mouth and throat, penis, anus, vagina, labia and cervix later in life. HPV vaccination protects against these six types of cancer, even for those who are already sexually active. The effectiveness of the HPV vaccine is continuously investigated and no lasting side effects have been found. For more information or help in making a choice there is hpvkeuzehulp.nl.
