In the holiday season and the expected large number of people wishing to practice their favorite hobby – fishing, we inform you that in order to protect the fish resource and comply with the rules for responsible fishing, by order of the executive director of IARA Assoc. Dr. Vanya Stamatova , in the period from 01.08.2023 to 31.08.2023 inclusive, the control bodies of the Agency will carry out enhanced inspections in water bodies under Art. 3 of the LRA (Fisheries and Aquaculture Act), as well as vessels and motor vehicles, warehouses, farm buildings, cold rooms and devices, and also facilities for the temporary storage of fish in the commercial network.
IARA reminds that, according to the ARA, persons engaged in recreational fishing are obliged to:

1. To use no more than 3 fishing rods (rods) with up to two hooks (single or double) mounted on them in artificial water bodies, in the Black Sea and the Danube River; in the waters of the Black Sea, a cheparé can be placed on one of the fishing rods;

2. Use 2 fishing rods (rods) with up to 2 hooks (single or double) installed when fishing in rivers, old riverbeds, coastal, Danube and inland lakes and marshes;

3. To record the catch from each fishing trip by species in the amateur fishing tickets;

4. To carry the recreational fishing tickets during a fishing trip and present them to the control authorities upon request.

After a one-day fishing trip, when fishing on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, anglers keep for themselves up to 2 kg of trout fish, but no more than 6 pieces. On weekdays, anglers are required to release any trout they catch. For all other types of fish, anglers keep up to 3 kg, except for a single specimen with a larger weight. In cases of catching frogs and crabs, they keep up to 50 pieces. In case of catching a quantity greater than the specified, the caught specimens are returned to the water, regardless of their condition.

The extraction of black mussel and white sand mussel is carried out only by manual method (through light diving activity). The commercial catch is carried out with a valid certificate issued by IARA. It is strictly forbidden to fish with bottom trawls and dredging. Anglers can keep no more than 3 kg of their catch of clams.

IARA calls: let’s together preserve and multiply Bulgaria’s fish wealth, treating the fish resource responsibly and with care!
