Important economic forum in New York on investment opportunities in the Sahara

A Moroccan-American economic forum, held over the weekend in New York, drew up a roadmap for the realization of various American investment projects in the provinces of Dakhla and Laayoune, in accordance with the will of King Mohammed VI to make the Moroccan Sahara a future economic pole and an African hub.

This two-day meeting was organized in New York with the participation of American businessmen and members of the Council of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, one of the most economically promising Saharan regions.

President of the council of Dakhla-Oued Addahab and elected member of the Istiqlal party, Yanja El Khattat led workshops while, on the American side, it was Ari Matityahu, the general manager of the American company Danforth Investors who was in charge coordinating the meeting.

This made it possible to review the opportunities offered by the regions of Laayoune and Guelmim-Oued Noun.

During this event, the CEO of the American company Danforth Investors underlined that Morocco, a “stable and advanced” country, now presents itself as a “phenomenal” business destination. Explaining that the Kingdom offers enormous investment opportunities, particularly in the fields of energy, logistics, tourism, new technologies and agriculture, the American businessman said he was “encouraged to do more business with Morocco.

Ari Matityahu went even further in his speech by announcing that “all Danforth Investors portfolio companies (35 around the world) are committed to doing business with the signatory countries of the historic agreement signed between Morocco, the United States and Israel.

For his part, the president of the Regional Council of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Yanja El Khattat explained that this meeting took place after the Morocco-United States business forum which had taken place in Dakhla.

Yanja El Khattat also recalled the adoption of the new Development Model of the Southern Provinces launched by King Mohammed VI in 2015. He specified that the integrated development program included the realization of seven structuring programs relating to the development of the territory in port and road infrastructure, energy, agriculture, maritime fishing, tourism, trade, logistics and training.

The President of the Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra Regional Council, Sidi Hamdi Ould Errachid, sent a message to the forum in which he encouraged American investors to position themselves in a region that holds many opportunities, with regard to public investments. and private which amount to a total of 60 billion dirhams.
