“Important Alert from Schools Regarding Daylight Saving Time and Exams”

A number of public, private and national schools have issued an alert to their students regarding daylight saving time, the introduction of the clock, and its connection to the timing of exams.

Sarah Taqi Allah Official Language School said, in a post on its official page on the social networking site “Facebook”: “A very important note for students who have an exam on Saturday, April 29, 2023.. On Friday, April 28, 2023 AD, when you reach twelve o’clock in the evening, you have to present your watch.” For a period of 60 minutes (an hour), then it becomes one o’clock in the morning on Saturday the directly following day, according to the text of Law No. 24 of 2023 AD.

The school added: “It is necessary to focus well because there are exams on Saturday corresponding to 29/4.”

And the school concluded: “Therefore, regardless of the bad choice of the date for adjusting the clock, you must focus well on bringing the clock forward on Friday at midnight so that students do not go to exams late.”

Last March, the Council of Ministers approved a draft law on daylight savings time, which stated: “From the last Friday of April until the end of the last Thursday of October of each Gregorian year, the legal time in the Arab Republic of Egypt is It is the hour according to the time followed, advanced by sixty minutes.” This comes in light of what the world is witnessing in terms of economic conditions and changes, and the government’s endeavor to rationalize energy use.​
