Chihuahua, Chih.- The Ministry of Health of Chihuahua urged the general population, but with emphasis on citizens who belong to at-risk population groups, to apply the influenza vaccine for this 2023-2024 winter season. WHO, highlighted Saúl Irving Perea Villalobos, state coordinator of the Universal Vaccination Program.
The vaccination strategy is carried out from October 16, 2023 to March 31, 2024, in the health units and with the coordination of the brigades that will enable modules in various towns and communities of the entity.
Perea Villalobos said that the quadrivalent vaccine formula is made up of two type A viruses and two type B viruses, which are modified each year according to the circulating strains and the antigenic composition recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
He indicated that the main objective is to provide protection from contracting this disease and from the complications that it may generate in people who suffer from it.
Perea Villalobos urged people to protect themselves against influenza, particularly people from vulnerable groups, which include children from 6 to 59 months (under 5 years), pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as older adults. from 60 years and older.
In addition, he highlighted that it is important in those who suffer from some comorbidity such as congenital and chronic heart or lung diseases, diabetes, obesity, kidney failure, cancer and those living with HIV/AIDS.
He commented that in the case of girls and boys, they are inoculated with one dose and after four weeks, the second dose will be applied.
Likewise, citizens over 18 years of age can go to health centers to get vaccinated against COVID-19, either as a booster or to start the vaccination schedule.
