This came during the signing by His Highness, yesterday, of a memorandum of understanding between the Australian Universities of Kalba and Monash, at the University of Kalba. The memorandum was signed on behalf of Monash University by Professor Susan Albert, Vice Chancellor of Monash University.
His Highness praised the fruitful and continuous cooperation between the universities of Sharjah and Monash, which resulted in the development of many joint scientific programs and led to an increase in scientific levels through the curricula and advanced knowledge exchange it provides, pointing out that the memorandum of understanding with the University of Kalba will provide a great addition to the university at the level of sports sciences specialization. The Board of Trustees of Kalba University will be keen to implement and arrange this modern program so that it conforms to the international standards taught at Monash University, and provides what is hoped for in developing sports cadres in the emirate and the UAE at the highest levels.
The memorandum of understanding stipulated the development of cooperation between the universities of Kalba and Monash in the field of bachelor’s degree programs in the field of physical education and sports sciences in accordance with the curriculum drawn up at Monash University. The memorandum also stipulated the continuation of future cooperation in the educational, pedagogical and scientific fields in various programs and different academic degrees. To provide more assistance services in these specialized fields, in addition to joint cooperation in the fields of scientific research.
For her part, the Vice Chancellor of Monash University extended her thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for directing His Highness to continue cooperation with Monash University, which opens multiple horizons for academic cooperation between it and the universities of Sharjah, which has been ongoing since 2004.
During her speech after the signing, Professor Susan Albert praised the vision of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in spreading education, culture and heritage, through the establishment of universities and providing them with the best programs, curricula and academic bodies, in addition to scientific cooperation and exchange with international scientific institutions, and she addressed the importance of the sports sciences program that she will present. Kalba University, which is the first of its kind in the Emirate of Sharjah, which allows work on many areas of common interest, such as scientific research in the fields of health, physical education, and others.
Professor Susan Albert indicated that the program includes several specializations, namely sports health, sports sciences and physical education, stressing that the agreement between the two universities will contribute to the graduation of students who possess sports skills and ethics, and specialize in motivating the next generation to practice various sports. Graduates of the sports sciences program will also be able to practice What they learned in schools, clubs and sports institutions.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the attendees watched a visual presentation about Monash University and the specializations it includes, and some of the various activities and events for students.
