Import-substitution: 57 billion FCFA to relaunch the fish plan between 2024 and 2026

Taking part in the extended programming and associated performance conferences 2024-2026, which are being held from August 16 to 26, the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries returned to the recovery plan for the fish sector in accordance with to the strategic orientations, it is said, of the President of the Republic.

The latter, according to the forecasts of the adjusted Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), will benefit from a three-year budget – 2024/2026 – of 57.6 billion FCFA.
In detail, the first year of the plan will benefit from an allocation of 10.2 billion FCFA. The second year – 2025 – will have a kitty of 14.2 billion FCFA while 33.1 billion FCFA will be injected into the revival of the said sector in 2026.
In addition, the public authorities are planning other support for aquaculturists. To do this, in the import substitution plan, the State intends to provide support of 125 million FCFA for the promotion of family aquaculture over the three-year period 2024-2026, therefore 35 million in 2024 and 45 million in 2025. and in 2026.
In the same vein, support of 240 million FCFA in aquaculture equipment to aquaculture farms for the promotion of family aquaculture within the framework of import-substitution is programmed over the three-year period, including 60 million in 2024 and 90 million in 2025 and 2026.
The acquisition of improved fish broodstock for the benefit of male and female fingerling producers within the framework of import-substitution evaluated at 225 million including 75 million for each year over the three-year period is envisaged.
In addition, the acquisition of fingerlings for the benefit of male and female aquaculturists within the framework of import-substitution is 135 million, including 45 million each year over the three-year period and the acquisition of fish feed within the framework of the import-substitution of 225 million including 75 million each year over the three-year period.
For the record, according to Snd-30, particularly with regard to fish production, the State must ensure the selection of productive fry species adapted to the local environment, produce and ensure the proper distribution of food and quality veterinarians, allowing optimal growth of fish species at an affordable cost for the producer and encouraging public-private partnerships for production.
