The Implenia construction group has landed a major contract in Germany. In Hamburg, Implenia will help build the extension of the Elbe tunnel on the A7 motorway and will take over the commercial management of the working group.

According to a statement on Tuesday, the German construction company Hochtief is responsible for the technical management of the construction of the 2.2 kilometer long noise protection tunnel in Hamburg-Altona. The total contract volume for the construction project amounts to around 580 million euros, with Implenia accounting for 35 percent.

The autobahn tunnel should start in April. The project is set to run for eight years and the client is DEGES – the Deutsche Einheit Fernstrassenplanungs und -bau GmbH, it goes on to say.
