Karim El Ahmadi is impressed by the mentality of the Feyenoord players. The former midfielder compares Arne Slot’s team with the championship team of 2017, of which he himself was a part. He notices that the current Feyenoorders make an imperturbable impression.
“It’s a bit funny. During the match against Sparta (early April, ed.), many boys did not realize that Ajax had drawn. Slot did not indicate that at halftime either,” El Ahmadi said to Feyenoord TV. He calls that a difference with 2017. “When we heard and saw that competitor Ajax drew or lost in the year we became champion, we were cheering with five or six people in the dressing room. We were so happy.”
Slot’s team does not seem easily impressed anyway, concludes El Ahmadi. “What really struck me after the game against Sparta was how cool the players were. I saw Trauner with a hood on and Hancko also walked very calmly. They didn’t show that they were very happy, because they are such a had a big lead. That showed that they were busy with the next match and did not get stuck in the festivities, because Ajax drew and they won against Sparta. In the year that we became champions, we almost walked the polonaise”, the former laughs midfielder.
