description
The Imperial Carriage Museum Vienna near Schönbrunn Palace invites you to take a stroll through the history of Austria. Discover the carriages of famous rulers such as Maria Theresa, Napoleon or Franz Joseph and accompany them through their eventful life. The highlight is the baroque imperial carriage, but also exquisite state wagons, comfortable touring carriages and the charming prams of the Habsburg princes and princesses. Since 2008, visitors have also been able to enjoy the Sisi Trail in the main gallery of the Carriage Museum and follow the life of Empress Elisabeth from her wedding to her tragic death – represented by the exhibition of her many personal carriages. All carriages are exhibited together with portraits, paintings and unique pieces that once belonged to Sisi. You can also see the only preserved saddle of the empress (who is considered the best rider of her time) and her reconstructed “riding chapel” with portraits of her favorite horses.
