The consequences of the Ukraine war are affecting the companies of the IHK Offenbach.
Before the attack on Ukraine, companies in the district of IHK Offenbach is quite hopeful despite the corona pandemic, as the IHK business survey in January 2022 showed. “The situation was completely different in May,” as stated in the chamber’s 2022 annual report, which has now been presented. Exploding energy and commodity prices, inflation and chaos in international trade darkened the mood according to the information.
The IHK economic climate index fell by ten points in the second survey, and by a further 36 points in autumn 2022. It hit a low of 72.6 points. The chamber responded with appeals to politicians and offers of help for the almost 34,200 chamber companies. The central demands were for practicable corona rules, fair financial aid and the avoidance of additional bureaucratic burdens as well as a reliable, affordable energy supply, as Chamber President Kirsten Schoder-Steinmüller summarizes in the report.
