Impact of HET Cooking Oil Revoked, Chicken and Fried Pecel Sellers Raise Trade Prices All

DEPOK, KOMPAS.com – The government has revoked the highest retail price (HET) for premium or packaged cooking oil last week.

This causes the price of cooking oil to be handed back to the market mechanism.

The revocation of the HET caused the price of packaged cooking oil to rise again.

This affected several traders in Depok, who were forced to increase the selling price of their wares.

Chicken pecel trader, Sri Wilasih (50) complained that the rising price of packaged cooking oil had an impact on the selling price.

“Usually one portion of chicken pecel is Rp. 15,000, now it has increased by Rp. 1,000 to become one portion of Rp. 16,000,” Sri said when met at Jalan Raya Margonda, Pinang alley, Depok, Monday (21/3/2022).

Even though he once got cooking oil at HET prices, he had a hard time getting it because the stock ran out quickly and was often empty.

“Once I got (HET packaged cooking oil). But in my opinion, there is no need to subsidize the important thing, the oil is smooth at the usual price,” said Sri.

“Why is it subsidized for Rp. 28,000 per 2 liters. Meanwhile, finally there is no oil, it’s rare, it’s hard to find it. Moreover, like me, it’s making it difficult for me to make sales,” he continued.

He admitted that the government’s abolition of packaged cooking oil subsidies had no effect as long as the oil was available. However, he hopes that packaged cooking oil prices will return to normal even though HET has been removed.

“It doesn’t matter, the important thing is that the goods are there, but don’t increase the increase too much. If it’s 2 liters to Rp. 55,000, that’s our model, what do people sell to get,” said Sri.

When met separately, Alip (18), a warkop entrepreneur, admitted that he increased the selling price, especially fried foods, in line with the rising price of packaged cooking oil.

“So it has the same impact on sales. We have to increase the price of fried foods. Previously, one fried food cost Rp. 1,000, now Rp. 5,000 to get four fried foods,” he said.

He also admitted that he was forced to increase the selling price because the price of packaged cooking oil had increased.

“I don’t want to increase the price, because the price of cooking oil goes up,” said Alip.

Alip said, previously he bought cooking oil for Rp. 28,000 per 2 liters, now to Rp. 33,000 per 2 liters.

However, Alip admitted that at that time he had received subsidized oil. However, only a few times to get it.

“Cooking oil has increased from Rp. 28,000, now it is Rp. 33,000 per 2 liters.
