Neighboring India has been hit by a surge in positive cases of corona. Nepal, Thailand and Laos are now also experiencing a sharp spike in positive cases of Covid-19 that has triggered it lockdown and travel bans.
On Wednesday, Nepal reported 8,600 new cases, the highest during the pandemic. In total, positive cases in Nepal reached more than 359 thousand with more than 3,700 deaths.
The number of infections already exceeds one percent of Nepal’s population. This is a difficult situation for Nepal, given its limited medical capabilities and facilities.
Thailand reported more than 2,000 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total cases to 75,000.
Meanwhile, Laos, which before April 20, 2021, only had 60 confirmed cases of Covid-19, now the total number of cases has reached 1,072.
As a result, Laos extended lockdown for the next 15 days to May 20. Laos is one of the best countries in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic.
