Impact of Climate Change: Polar Bear Incest and Eagle Divorced

JAKARTA – Impact climate change or climate change does not only affect biodiversity. But, also starting to be felt by a number of animal species. The effect is not only great, but also very strange.

Climate change itself can be defined as significant changes that occur in temperature, rainfall, and wind that lasts for a long time. Could be in a decade or even more.

And some species are adapting to Earth’s warmer temperatures in unusual ways.

Morgan Tingley, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of California Los Angeles, said animal species typically adapt in three ways.

First, they can shift the range of motion. For example moving from one place to another when an area gets too hot (either to a cooler area or to a higher place).

Then, there is the so-called phenological shift. That is the seasonal timing of biological events, such as when deer are born or when birds return from migration. “And finally, the species themselves change, either through evolution or natural selection,” he told ABC News.

According to him, research on changes in this species is still very little studied. On the other hand, many studies have shown the magnitude of the impact of climate change on animal adaptation.

“Climate change is like a killer on a global scale,” explains Maria Paniw, an ecologist at the Doñana Biological Station, a public research institute located in Seville, Spain. “The risks to animals are much worse,” he adds. Here are some of the impacts of climate change on animals:
