“Imola Grand Prix Cancelled Due to Flooding: Insights from the F1 Paddock”

Our journalists usually arrive at the Grand Prix on Thursday and collect accreditation on Wednesday. At Imola, the Grand Prix having been canceled as of Wednesday, no journalist has not visited the F1 paddock, with the exception of F1, FIA and team personnel.

Very few images are therefore published on the state of the circuit. In this video, we are well aware of the proximity of the circuit to the river which has come out of its bed a few meters from the Imola track.

Most of the trucks from the paddock were thus able to be evacuated and moved to a height, on the circuit itself, while a few Pirelli trucks are parked on the flooded part, with around sixty centimeters to one meter of water. The F1 TV infrastructure with the control room in particular is located in the flooded area.

Fortunately, the precipitation has calmed down since Wednesday and the teams can now access the circuit again to uninstall the motor homes and the paddock in order to travel to Monaco.

Monaco is a special venue since the infrastructure is limited there and most of the facilities are already ready. For their part, most of the drivers, apart from those of AlphaTauri, had not yet arrived on the circuit. F1 and the FIA made the decision early enough to avoid any problems and risks for the drivers.
