Vaccinations are only given on Maundy Thursday and Holy Saturday, but not on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, according to the Interior Ministry in Potsdam.
That has only recently started taking care of the vaccinations, after Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) withdrew responsibility from the Green Minister of Health Ursula Nonnemacher. Since then, a crisis team in the Interior Ministry of CDU Minister Michael Stübgen has been responsible.
Sebastian Walter was already ridiculed for that, saying that the new “vaccination cabinet” was more of a “vaccination cabinet”. He said that he had no understanding for the closure of the vaccination centers: “In this phase we have to vaccinate every day.”

In some other countries, too, there is no vaccination on the Easter holidays due to the shortage of supplies. In Schleswig-Holstein and Saxony, on the other hand, dates were also assigned for the upcoming public holidays. And the vaccination centers in Berlin also opened on the Easter weekend, as announced by spokesman Oliver Fey from the Senate Health Administration.
The criticism of vaccination management is not new. Minister Nonnemacher was accused, among other things, of a chaotic start. The fact that she had the vaccinations controlled by the external consulting company Kienbaum, which cost around 468,000 euros, was met with incomprehension. Mainly because Brandenburg was at times in last place nationwide in terms of vaccination progress.
Inoculated more than 70,000 doses in one week for the first time

The Interior Ministry also said that more than 50,000 vaccinations were given in the vaccination centers in the past week, while hospitals, doctors’ offices and mobile vaccination teams each vaccinated around 9,000 people.
That is not enough for the State Medical Association. She appeals to the state government to give preference to doctors’ surgeries with vaccines. In the third wave, high-risk patients living at home are particularly at risk, who cannot come to the vaccination centers and should be vaccinated by their general practitioners as soon as possible.
In contrast to many other federal states, family carers for older people or so-called risk children are not vaccinated in Brandenburg. Ministry spokesman Andreas Carl blamed the “scarce resources” for this: “We know what burdens are associated with this for those affected – especially for family carers,” he said: “We therefore hope that these groups of people will be given the green light very soon becomes.”
