Lazio achieve perfect points when entertaining Zenit St. Petersburg in continued Champions League. Capital City Eagle Team won 3-1, with Ciro Immobile printing brace.
Matchday fourth in Group F of the Champions League sees Lazio vs Zenit. The duel between the two teams took place at the Olimpico Stadium, Wednesday (11/25/2020) in the morning WIB.
Lazio immediately opened the scoring in the third minute. Immobile managed to break into Zenit’s goal with a lob which goalkeeper Mikhail Kerzhakov failed to block. 1-0 Lazio take the lead.
The home team scored again in the 22nd minute. This time it was Marco Parolo’s turn to put his name on the scoreboard.
Starting from Joaquin Correa’s short pass, Parolo effortlessly sent the ball low to the bottom left of Zenit’s goal. Lazio winning 2-0.
Three minutes later, Zenit was able to reduce his position. Artem Dzyuba managed to maximize Yaroslav Rakistskiy’s pass with a shot that beat goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
No additional goals are created until entering the break. The first half closed with Lazio 2-1 advantage.
In the second half, both teams continued to play open play. A golden opportunity for Lazio was created in the 54th minute, after Wilmar Barrios violated Immobile in the forbidden box.
The referee awarded Lazio a penalty. Immobile as the executioner successfully tore Zenit’s net for the second time, while changing the position to 3-1 for the hosts.
Lazio tried to increase the score with the remaining time of the second half, but the efforts of Simone Inzaghi’s side failed to score an additional goal. The game ends with a win Biancocelesti 3-1.
An additional three points makes Lazio now collect eight points from the four games that have been played. The Roma club are in second place in Group F, just behind Borussia Dortmund who have scored nine points.
