/ Zaventem –
There is a threat of strike at Brussels Airport Company, the operator of Zaventem airport. The trade unions ACOD Telecom-Vliegwezen and ACV-Transcom are protesting against what they call a hidden restructuring. A reconciliation procedure has been started to resolve the conflict. In any case, the start of the summer holidays will not be jeopardized for travelers.

“Brussels Airport Company presents a positive story of major investments and a new organizational structure, but behind this lies a hidden restructuring,” says Bjorn Vanden Eynde of ACV-Transcom. He denounces that employees would see their job disappear or be demoted. “It is not possible for us that the negative impact ends up with the employees,” said the union official. He points out that the employees had previously accepted a savings plan to mitigate the corona impact at the airport. There have also been layoffs.
reconciliation meeting
There will be a special works council at the airport operator on Tuesday afternoon. And a reconciliation meeting must take place at the latest Monday. If that doesn’t work, the unions want to file a strike notice afterwards. Two weeks later, it could then effectively come to a strike, explains Vanden Eynde.
