Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Omicron variant of Covid-19 is often found to carry symptoms that tend to be milder for sufferers than other variants of Covid-19. As for the experts, there are some unique Omicron symptoms that can appear at certain moments.
This is also supported by a number of patients infected with the Omicron variant. They reported that they felt known symptoms during defecation and when they woke up.
According to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), if a patient experiences symptoms of COVID-19 diarrhea, this could be a sign that someone has been exposed to COVID-19 Omicron.
“People with weakened immune systems are the most likely to experience diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms,” NBC Chicago reports.
Meanwhile, Johns Hopkins Medicine shows about 20% of Covid-19 patients tend to experience diarrhea as an early symptom after exposure to Covid-19 Omicron. However, it is important to remember that this diarrhea is not the only symptom of Omicron Covid-19.
Generally these complaints are followed by fatigue, breathing problems, muscle and body aches, and headaches or sore throats.
In addition to defecation, there is also suspicion of Covid-19 infection whose symptoms occur when you wake up. Doctor Robert ‘Bob’ Wachter from San Francisco, United States, recounted the experience of his son infected with Omicron experiencing flu-like symptoms that occur when he wakes up.
Symptoms include sore throat, dry cough, muscle aches, and chills. Meanwhile, the less common symptoms that Omicron Covid-19 patients complain about are bloating which is reported by 14% of patients and belching symptoms experienced by 10% of patients.
On the other hand, vomiting is a complaint of 9% of patients, while abdominal pain strikes 7% of those discharged from the hospital after recovering from Covid-19.
There are also other symptoms of Covid-19 that patients complain the most, such as hoarseness, chills, dizziness, loss of appetite, to nausea and stomach acid. Although the symptoms of Covid-19 Omicron are relatively mild, the high transmission rate has sparked experts’ concerns.
