Immediately hold a GMS, these are the strong candidates for the chair of President Director of Bank Mandiri

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. PT Bank Mandiri Tbk will hold an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) tomorrow, Wednesday (21/10). Of course, one of the main agendas is none other than to determine the chair of the president director, which is currently vacant after the previous president director Royke Tumilaar was assigned to lead PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BNI).

The vacant position of managing director at one of the largest banks in the country also brings a lot of information circulating in the market. According to KONTAN sources, there are actually several names of Royke’s successor candidates to lead the bank with shares code BMRI the. However, he believes that the seats will be filled internally by the company.

“Most likely it will come from within (internally), meaning that there are directors who will step up,” he said recently. According to different information, the names of the directors of Bank Mandiri are indeed the candidates for the position of President Director.

The candidate is Hery Gunardi, who currently serves as deputy managing director as well as acting (Plt) current president director of Bank Mandiri.

Naturally, Hery’s name is echoed, because his work in the banking world is indeed quite long and you could say he is one of the senior bankers in the country. Hery was also a member of the merger team for the establishment of Bank Mandiri in 1998-1999.

He has also held several important positions in the Mandiri Group such as Director of AXA Mandiri Financial Services in 2003-2006, group head wealth management as well as concurrently the President Commissioner of AXA Mandiri Financial Services (2006-2009) and later became group head Jakarta network (2009-2011, and continued to be group head distribution network 2011-2013 years ago.

Hery also held various directorships at Bank Mandiri, such as director of micro and retail, director of consumer, director distribusions, director small business & network, and director consumer & retail transaction until his last position as deputy managing director.

The internal candidate who was also whispered by the KONTAN source, namely Darmawan Junaidi. Darmawan is even predicted as one of the strongest candidates. Just like Hery, Darmawan has also raised his name and his entire career at Bank Mandiri, to be exact, from 1999 to the present.

As for now, Darmawan is trusted by shareholders through the December 2019 General Meeting of Shareholders to return to serving as director treasury, international banking and special asset management. Darmawan can be said to have an important role at Bank Mandiri, his position as treasury director certainly makes him responsible for keeping Bank Mandiri’s liquidity stable, while seeking a fortune from the treasury business.

He is also responsible for managing credit repairs or loan recovery to banking transaction solutions for the corporate segment or wholesale. Despite his longer career at Bank Mandiri, Darmawan also had time to try out a position as finance director at a state-owned company, namely PT Semen Indonesia Tbk.
