Immediate Application of Catastrophic Agricultural Insurance for Peasants Affected by Heavy Rains in Zongólica Mountain Range

The president of the Commission for Agricultural, Rural and Forestry Development in the State Congress, Magdalene Rosales Torres, said that he will request the immediate application of the Catastrophic Agricultural Insurance for the affected peasants due to heavy rains in the Zongólica mountain range.

The Morenista legislator said that in the coming days he will tour the affected zone in the company of the head of the Ministry of Agricultural, Rural and Fisheries Development (Cedarpa), Evaristo Ovando Ramírez, and mayors of the affected municipalities, in order to provide the necessary support to the primary producers.

“We are going to take the necessary steps before the Cedarpa for the immediate application of the catastrophic farm insurancethat they can carry out the census of those affected who were victims a few days ago there in Zongólica, and do the necessary paperwork before the Cedarpa to activate the agricultural insurance in that area and many peasants who have lost their crops can benefit.

“We are even going to go on a tour with Secretary Evaristo, with the mayors of the area to see how we support all those farmers who lost their crops these days that the issue happened there in Zongólica,” he said.

The president of the Commission for Agricultural, Rural and Forestry Development recalled that a few days ago support was given to 290 producers from the municipalities of Ixhuatlán del Café and Tepatlaxco, as part of the Agricultural Insurance, after the affectations to coffee and corn crops, due to a hailstorm registered last May.

“We went to Ixhuatlán del Café and Tepatlaxco, there were 290 beneficiaries, 150 who supported for the issue of corn in Tepatlaxco for the hailstorm theme who fell in the mountains and 140 who supported the issue of coffee in Ixhuatlán del Café. These supports are from the Agricultural Insurance that the State Government, through Cedarpamanages producers who lost in the May hailstorm”.
