Immediate aid, November aid: An overview of state corona aid

Berlin Economy Minister Peter Altmaier (CDU) and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz (SPD) have announced one aid program after another for the economy since the beginning of the pandemic. Aid amounting to 89.4 billion euros for companies and the self-employed had been approved by Thursday. This does not yet include the short-time work allowance of around 25 billion euros.

Nevertheless, there has been a lot of criticism recently. Altmaier and Scholz were quick to announce help, but implementation and payment took a long time. In addition, there are now around a dozen different programs, and many entrepreneurs lose track of them.

Loans and guarantees

A large part of the aid is loans from the state-owned KfW bank. By mid-March there had been around 126,000 applications for 63.5 billion euros. Of this, 48.8 billion euros were approved. This includes various KfW programs designed to help companies out with liquidity during the crisis.
