“ImKa and Kaspars Zemītis. The Symphonic Conversation” evening concert at 7 p.m. is sold out, but there are still places available for the supplementary concert at 2 p.m.
“I’m looking forward to this concert with really great excitement and also anxiety, because it’s not like I get to play with the orchestra a lot every day. And this program, which combines my music and the most beautiful songs of our beloved Imantas Kalniņš – in my opinion, is a great reason for celebration,” says Kaspars Zemītis.
“During my life, Kalniņš’s music has somehow gone hand in hand with my music as well. And it will be a great honor for me – to play my music alongside the music of Imantas Kalniņš in this concert. In addition, with the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra! And this is how to celebrate your anniversary year!”
The concert program will include the original music of Kaspars Zemīš, as well as the well-known and popular songs of Imantas Kalniņš “Viņi dejoja đenu vasaru”, “Akacių palags”, “Dūdieviņš”, “Elpo” and many others.
“My new work “Saule und vējš”, which is like a small suite of seasons, as well as the already known compositions of Imantas Kalniņas and also my songs arranged for the orchestra by Emīls Zilberts, will be played. The feeling and musical perspective of Emil’s orchestra is really very close to me, so this will be a great celebration,” says Zemītis.
Ainārs Rubiķis will stand at the conductor’s desk of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and the special guest of the concert will be Rēzija Kalniņa.
“Since Kaspar and I have made music together a lot and for a long time, I think that it will be very musically saturated at the same time, and at the same time it will also have the lightness that Kaspar always permeates in his concerts. It should be very glamorous,” said singer Daumants Kalniņš in the Latvian Television program “Rīta Panorāma” yesterday.
Imants Kalniņš is one of the most prolific and popular composers of Latvian academic and rock music, and his music transcends genre boundaries, as evidenced by his rich and colorful song instrumentation and melodic themes in academic music pieces.
This summer, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra in the concert garden “Pūt, vējini!” already held a magnificent opera music concert with the participation of an international ensemble of soloists, with the Azerbaijani maestro Yalcin Adigezalov standing at the conductor’s desk.
On September 16, the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra will return to its home, the “Lielais dzintars” concert hall, and will open its 143rd concert season under the leadership of chief conductor Guntas Kuzmas. The special guest of the opening concert of the season will be the Czech pianist Lukašs Vondráček.
