Imitators of Ernest Hemingway parody the Sanfermines in Florida

As part of the Hemingway Days festivities, dozens of imitators of Ernest Hemingway rode replicas of bulls on wheels through the streets of Key West this Saturday, July 23, in the original version of the Sanfermines that are celebrated every year in Florida. Singing “ole, ole, ole, ole,” in true Spanish style, the fake Hemingways set off from Sloppy Joe’s Bar, which hosts the annual impersonators contest. All past winners and current competitors parade through historic downtown Key West pushing life-size replica bulls on wheels, some of which even blow smoke from their noses. On Saturday night, 25 semifinalists selected from among 125 participants will compete for victory in the final round for the title of “Papa”, Hemingway’s nickname.
