Imitating Celine Dion in Quebec: the biggest challenge of Sarah Schwab’s career

Imitating the great Celine Dion in Quebec, just two weeks after her historic performance in Paris? French actress Sarah Schwab is ready to take on this challenge during her appearance at ComediHa! Fest-Québec.

“It’s probably the biggest challenge of my career so far,” admits the 24-year-old singer and impersonator, a few days before landing in the capital to present her show twice. From dream to realityin which she notably imitates the great Quebecer. “Her voice is one of my favorites, I learned a lot by listening to her and watching her sing.”

Like the hundreds of millions of viewers who tuned in to watch the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics on July 26, Sarah Schwab was stunned by Celine’s triumphant return.

“She brings people together so much and always has perfect control over her voice. It did me a lot of good to see her back on stage,” praises the woman who will be performing, among other things, My Heart Will Go Onat the Petit Champlain Theater.

According to Sarah Schwab, who will be making her first career visit to Quebec, this tour de force from the diva of Charlemagne came at just the right time for her own performance.

“I think it just makes my show more relevant, I can’t wait to see people’s reactions,” says the impersonator, who has more than 200 voices in her arsenal.

The “grandiose” voices of Quebec

Sarah Schwab doesn’t hide it, she has a pronounced penchant for our singers. The voices of Cœur de pirate, Mylène Farmer, Isabelle Boulay and Lara Fabian, to name a few, are also among those she loves to imitate on stage.

“There are a lot of great voices in Quebec, powerful and spectacular voices to perform in concert,” she notes. “Plus, I think the Quebec accent is great, but I can only imitate it by singing!” she adds.

Recently, thanks to her Quebec admirers on social networks, the artist who has accumulated more than 10 million views on her YouTube videos discovered Ginette Reno’s repertoire.

“I didn’t know her and I was challenged to imitate her. She has a voice that you don’t hear anywhere else, I want to make room for her songs in my shows in Quebec,” she says, adding in the same breath that she would love to one day be able to tour La Belle Province.

“Quebecers have always supported and encouraged me through my social networks, I would love to come and present my concerts there as part of a tour.”
