WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Thursday significantly raised its growth forecast for the US economy for the year 2021, to 7.0% from 4.6% expected in April, citing the support measures unprecedented financial and monetary measures deployed by the United States.
This would be the fastest growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in the United States in a generation, said the IMF, which also raised its growth forecast for 2022 to 4.9% from 3.5. % three months ago.
These new forecasts take for granted that the US Congress will adopt President Joe Biden’s infrastructure investment plan and tax reform this year, the IMF said.
