Imcine announces the first results of the 2022 Mexican Film Promotion Program – Once News

The Secretary of Culture of the Government of Mexico, through the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (Imcine), published the results of four of the 12 nationwide calls that make up the Program for the Promotion of Mexican Cinema (Focine) 2022New routes, new stories”.

Since 2021, Focine provides support directly through three major aspects: production, exhibition and preservation of collections, to stimulate and promote the development of the film industry in Mexico, making all regions and communities of the country visible.

in these four calls A total of 130 projects were received, of which 63 were approved. All those registered were reviewed and analyzed by the Evaluation Councils, made up of people from the film community under the principle of gender equity and considering plurality, as well as representation of the federal entities.

The results of four of the 12 Focine calls are as follows:

Exhibition

1. Call for Support to equip and/or condition exhibition spaces and projects:

18 projects were registered, of which 13 were approved. Of these, eight were presented by women and five by men. These projects will serve nine entities in the country: Baja California, Campeche, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Durango, Guerrero, Morelos and Veracruz.

2. Call for support for audience training and exhibition projects for Mexican cinema:

A total of 81 projects were registered, of which 29 were approved. Of these, 13 were presented by women and 16 by men; which will serve 27 entities in the country: Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Mexico City, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca , Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatán and Zacatecas. Some will be national in scope.

Preservation of collections

1. Call for Support for the creation and preservation of film collections

11 new projects were registered, of which all were approved: seven were presented by women and four by men. These come from eight entities in the country: Mexico City, Chiapas, State of Mexico, Michoacán, Morelos, Oaxaca, Querétaro and Tabasco.

Production

1. Call for support for the production of feature films in collaboration with the states:

20 projects were registered, of which 10 from the states of Baja California, Chiapas, Jalisco, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro and Tabasco were approved. Of these, two are filed by legal entities (companies) and eight by natural persons: four by women and four by men.

The results of the other nine Production calls will be announced shortly: Financial consolidation of feature films, Production of fiction feature films, Production of documentary feature films, Pre-production and production of animated short and feature films, Production of cinema for children, Production of First films from film schools or with a specialty in film, Production of short films by region and with experience, and Post-production of feature films and short films.

On April 29, the first results of the call for Support for Script Writing and Project Development were published, in two categories: 1) Direct support for script writing and 2) Advice for plot lines (documentary modality).

92 projects were registered and 12 were approved, of which three are co-writes: 11 presented by women and four by men: one is from Baja California Sur, six from Mexico City, one from Jalisco, one from Chiapas, one from Hidalgo, one from Nuevo León and one from Oaxaca.
